One of our Christmas vacation days activities was to take the kids bowling. They all loved it, but my 3-year-old was particularly excited. His method was to grab the ball, slide/run up to the line, plop down the ball, and push it with both hands, landing on his elbows and knees in his crouch of anticipation that he maintained until the ball hit some pins.
This generally took at least 30 seconds, since the ball was *barely* rolling, but he was happy to wait it out.
After a while he made the connection between his touching the line and the red light and buzzer going off next to him, and he was even more delighted with his method. For the rest of the game he celebrated his fouls more than the ball knocking down pins.
